I am not trying to make a beautiful quilt, I'm just collecting snippets. The parts of the quilt are so different in style, embroidered, appliqué and painting. It is not consequent, but is meant to look like a collection. Bits from different origin on a heap. Ah, before I forget, this update is for Judy, the background of the moorhen, the moor and dark sky.

Gorgeous colours again Eva - especially the bird with the jade-green background....
ReplyDelete...and such neat stitching too!

ReplyDeletethis is exactly what makes a beautiful cloth. i am humbled.
ReplyDeleteEva, this is fantastic! It is all different, but it looks like it belongs together, a success.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great eye, Eva. This piece is quirky and wonderful - and wonderful exactly because it is so quirky!

I cannot get enough of this lovely bird quilt! I'm looking at it again and again. What type of paints are you using? Can you describe your technique, or is this a deep, dark secret??? It appears that you are sketching the bird onto the fabric and then painting the dyes on (perhaps DyeNaFlow?) and then embroidering? I'm particularly enamored with the second bird down on the left, with the red neck! wonderful work!!
ReplyDeleteNo secret! Judy, thank you for your comment. I use liquid textile paint by Marabu after sketching with a black textile pen, then iron it and quilt, that's all!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds...all! this will be a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteJe suis en route pour Berlin: rendre visite a un petit Prussien de 2 ans, mon petit-fils Danial
