Although the ground is still covered with ice and snow, there is a first sign of spring: The starlets are back. They must have been more than surprised to see the landscape they come back to. The geese are having rivalties, and the way they interact won't tell if the big one is bullying a smaller one or if it is mating play. Obviously also the grey goose felt a member of the group and kept backing them.
There are no other signs of spring yet. The only color is the burning red of these shrub stems.
It is still cold, just a bit above freezing temperatures. But it was so good to get out of the cabin just for an hour. It is possible to walk again, and I felt like a young lamb leaving the stable for the first time.
Encouraging signs that spring will eventually arrive. Nice photographs!

ReplyDeleteToday my husband saw 10 cranes on his walk with the dog and I heart them hundreds of meters away in our garden. I always love the time, when the birds are on their way back home.

Sleet and freezing rain here today but the wild turkeys were out in the yard for the first time in months. Eeeewwww. Moche!
