Bente's Quilt

This is a 2011 quilt, entirely hand-sewn and quilted, just being taken into posession by my grandniece. This quilt was made of dozens of single squares, ready sewn with a reverse side and binding, before I connected them -- which was quite a puzzle! The centers of the squares are linoprints, showing exotic animals like apes and rhinos, elephants, but also birds, horses, and fish. First, I hade to make sure that the strips I made out of the squares were ending up with more or less the same length. I chose the smallest and the largest and mixed the sizes equally, adding all sizes to each strip. Then I chose the best combination of the strips. If you don't expect all the corners to meet, this is the best method to get regular edges.
