Fall -- or: Need some Color?

Hard to believe that these colors haven't been electronically enhanced. Maybe it was the dim light of this drizzly day that gave some colors an extra uplift. It was quiet, no wind, and I was in a sleepy mood. My back was aching, but I just couldn't stop taking pictures of the amazing color combos that this fall -- and possibly the choices that the park gardeners had made -- provided to the view of the visitors.

I left the park with the feeling you get when you had some very delicious food. Indeed, color has something nourishing to me. We call them "saturated", for example. There are still blossoms, and combined with red or yellow leaves, the pink of the last roses adds an almost surrealistic or fauve taste that is amazing.

No Stitching Today

This weekend, I can't go on stitching because of a little cut in my finger, very small though, it will be gone tomorrow. It's okay because it made me paint this: I took a sheet of my beloved black paper and started another tatzelwurm in gouache.
On Saturday, we took a walk in one of the lovely parks in our town. The scene with the artificial lake is very picturesque. In this pavillion, they can buy drinks or rent a boat, there is a public pool, and after its is closed down, people swim in the lake.

Evening in our Town Park

If you live in New York, you have the Central Park which must be way more interesting and beautiful. Hamburg boasts to be the "gate to the world", but in their habits and opinions, people in Hamburg are very conservative and boring. The rich can even be compared to the stiff upper lip English upperclass kind. It might be like some smaller town in the American Middlewest or so. This is the reason why people from different continents seem to enjoy a place where they can live a more joyful lifestyle.
J and I spent a few hours in the largest park of our town. First we had a drink in this very Bavarian beer garden (another reason why we don't have to go to Munich). Then we took a walk. This park is not in the center of Hamburg; there is another about which I made a report sooner. This one is more in the suburbs, and the lawn is HUGE! I knew it is a Sunday pleasure of Hamburg's inhabitants to make a barbequeue. The Turkish started this years ago, and other minorities have followed. There were Latino groups who grilled big steaks, causing a lot of smoke; Africans played football, and some youth went for a little swim in the lake.

There was a good mood and litter all over and big metal containers for the leftovers of smoking coal.

Hamburg Central Park

A walk in our "Central Park"

It is situated right in the city and is called "Plants and Flowers"

The orange spark in the first picture is a gardener, trimming one of the pines. The fish that was digging in the mud was about 24" long. -- There is a large rose garden, laid out like a baroque garden with small boxwood hedges. Petals are scattered for the visitors -- well, it was the wind on this cool day, and when the rain grew heavier, I had to leave. -- This park is dear to me, because I have known it for 57 years -- no lie! When I was 3, we moved into the city, and instead of a garden, we had this park around the corner where my parents or grandparents took me every day.
