Today, temperatures rose above freezing point, well, not much; I took a walk through my hometown, wearing a velvet cap and fur shawl. So, I was quite comfortable. Keeping one's head warm is essential, but so many people in Germany don't wear caps, even in the freezing cold. The ladies don't like to ruin their hairstyle. The very view almost kills me.
After coming home, I made myself a winter yummy, Russian pasta pouches called Pelmeni, filled with minced turkey meat (ready bought!), slightly fried in butter and served with a spoonful of yoghurt, together with sauerkraut and mushrooms. My favourite! The cold weather makes calories a vital necessity, sorry. I took a picture, but my husband said: "Ooh, that looks awful, hope you didn't show it to anybody."

Oh, yes--been reading a good deal about the frigid Winter over in your parts. We haven't had much of any in New York City. I worry about that as a gardener--will the bulbs I planted in the church garden I tend have enough cold to set flower? Meanwhile, I still feel the need of warming calories--savory soups. pastas and crusty breads! I wear a hat all the time, even in just cool weather, and I love my comforter. Be well, stay warm and may Spring reward our forbearance.

Eva, thank you so much for posting these beautiful pictures of your home town. I love the canal (?) or river shots, with the boats laying in amongst the ice. We are having a warm patch here in our part of Alaska, temps in the 40's (F) and rain... I think some real cold would be nice again! Stay cozy, sus

I have been bundling up like an eskimo and I could care less about my hair. It was down to -25 C and its been miserable for weeks now!
Pelmeni hmmmm - that sounds very promising to me - even it is not near as cold here as in Germany right now! :-)
