This is not innovative

Watercolor miniatures are all I can do at the moment instead of sewing, embroidering or quilting. I don't really feel inspired, and I guess these things follow the trail of Paul Klee and Lionel Feininger very closely. They are very small, the "Sea bridge" is about 4x4", and "Stock Market Dreams" is 5.12x7.5". You can see the influence of fiber work in them!

The sea bridge could also be a town on wooden piles, as Venice or the center of Hamburg. When the subway was built, the workers found one of these medieval oaks and dated its use back to the 13th century. This means that its growth started about 800 years ago. It was put up inside the subway station near our town hall. An artist carved it into a sculpture of maids of 7 centuries. The street above the station is named "Maids' walk" which used to refer to the housemaids who went to market over this path along the water.

I particularly love the stockmarket piece. Don't worry - your work is so fibre orientated that this period is a design phase - more people should really do this. I have recently found that it is good to work small too.

Your 'Sea Bridge' reminds me so much of Stiltsville, in Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida: http://activerain.com/blogsview/87698/stiltsville-a-miami-landmark
We lived in Miami in the 70's and used to take our boat out through Stiltsville to fish in the Gulf Stream. The homes always intrigued me....and here you have drawn one!!
Of course you know how I love your paintings, and treasure my 'Pink Bridge'. I'm sorry that you still cannot sew, but I'm glad that your muse is still singing loud and clear.

Warm Hugs on a cold morning!

I love these paintings...and they are certainly "designs" for future quilts!

Love the bit about the old oaks too....that's why I studied archaeology at uni....I have a fascination for the remains of earlier lives.

We're in a white-out here at the minute... blowing snow-devils everywhere...

They look innovative to me. And they look like they would be great quilts.

These are wonderful, such beautiful colour combinations. The first image reminds me of the Basil in Russia.
