New thread spools for handquilting: Altin Basak by Masura, Turkish thread. It is meant for crocheting, but I use it as a handquilting thread. It is too heavy for machine quilting, but great for handquilting. And it is rather cheap, 25 grams -- I don't know how many meters -- are less than 4$. I started the golden spool sometime ago, and I'm getting quite far. The crane has funny legs, but I don't feel like undoing them, maybe I will if they keep getting on my nerves.

Maybe you'll grow to like them? Works for me sometimes (but not always).
