On request, I show the way I do larger embroidery. I use a quilting hoop and keep my right hand underneath the piece all the time, and the left hand is on top all the time.
I have to find the right spot from underneath with my right hand, because I am right-hand oriented, and the left hand has the easier job. The husband J took the pictures.

oh the scale is larger than i thought. great pictures of you too. i used to quilt that way but i found it less accurate when you don't have a definite hole to pull the needle up through. my grandmother did needlepoint your way too. she said it was less energy consuming.
That looks like a great way to needlepoint. Much less of a trial on your hands and arms. Unfortunately I cant even use a regular hoop for my work anymore. Even that slight weight is too much for my hands. Arthritis is a terrible thing. I have looked at those nice hoop stands though..that might be the ticket ;)
Diane, I let the hoop rest on the edge of the table, I don't hold it up either.
I used to do a lot of this 2-handed embroidery! Ahhhhhhh: a past life! LOL
