A walk in Maiendorf

What could be more suitable for this beautiful 1st of May than a walk in Maiendorf, which means something like May Village? In front of the red house, you can see my husband, who was eager to take a walk, whereas I kept him up by taking photographs at every corner...
The region is a valley left behind by a melting glacier. And it is a famous site where a stone age hunters' camp (12.000 years old) was excavated not too far away in Ahrensburg after which this late glacial era was named.

Another happy creature in the sun -- and flowers I saw during the walk

How beautiful! Love the horse rolling on his back and I can smell the lilacs from here.

I didn't know horses did that.

I have a friend who makes a living selling etchings of nature scenes which start as photographs, makes him cranky that his partner always wants to walk around and LOOK AT STUFF when they are somewhere beautiful. Although apparently recently she had to hold an umbrella over him while he photographed, so he should not be complaining.

What?? A horse just rolling around on the lawn in the middle of town? How amazing! Spring!! Today it was warm but we had drizzles. Ok, good for the garden.
