Painting finished

When I was working on "Joseph's Colourful Coat", I let this picture stand unfinished for a long time. I just wasn't sure how to go on. A few weeks ago I went on with it and changed the bottom part completely. I cannot tell you what it is, I just shmeared the oils onto it and enjoyed the shades. Then I decided that I did not like the background; a shining kimono in front of a night-blue sky just seemed too pathetic; I dissolved it into blue patches and made the border between the coat and the background less strict. I dimmed down the patches and brightened up the red.

I like the way the coat extends into and combines with the background very much. Not so sure about the bottom - I think it may compete with the coat to some extent.

It is a great piece - so interesting and one of those things you wante to keep coming back to and seeing new things each time. Successful art.
How large is it?

Wow! The coat is beautiful and I love how you did squares out into the background. I like what you did with the bottom, but maybe a little less?

Love this Eva! Fantastic colours.

In answer to your question...

It's a Tibetan "OM" stamp in the middle - the other bit is part of the Kalachakra text...

This is very impressive Eva! I like everything about it. Having clicked back to the 'shining kimono', must say I liked that unfinished too...lol...love the dark background and brightly coloured kimono.

Anyways, this version is definitely the winning piece.

This is a wonderful piece - so much vibrancy and pattern, but still very strong and cohesive. You did a great job with this!

Beautifully done! I love the transmission from the coat into the background and the pool of color on the bottom. Very rich and deep!
