Extreme cold

A very cold morning, we must have had about -8 or -10° C which is 14-18° Fahrenheit. Smoke from some houses heated with log fire crept away from the roofs, but won't rise.

A woodpecker climbed the tree.

I have good sewing light for working on Joseph's coat.

Yesterday I cleared my material case and sorted out things to be stored in the cellar. Shouldn't I throw away what I haven't used for 2 years, because this proves that I won't need it anyway? Not really.
I work in phases, for example put away my easle for 5 years, but started painting again recently. Couldn't I just stick to one discipline? Sorry, this does not inspire me. Are you as flighty as I am?

I'm a dreadful "butterfly"! Always wanting to do everything at once.
I have got a bit better lately though - and am managing to stick at least to a general theme.

I do however feel that a little variety helps to drive out boredom!

So do what you want, when you want to do it! Hedonism in art is wonderful!!!!

I don't go along with the theory that "If you haven't used it in q or 2 years you must get rid of it".
If you have a place to put something and you still like it, why throw it out?
So don't apologize for keeping something and don't apologize for doing more than one "ART" thing.
What you do is wonderful.

It's good to take a break from one medium and go to another. I think it helps to keep those creative juices flowing. Otherwise I think our work starts looking stale or we produce something just for the sake of....But there's the problem of where to put the supplies in the meantime.

Most definitely! I seem to work in spurts...going from one media to another. I recently spent three months lost in Adobe Photoshop learning to design with it. I like to paint, draw, sew, dye, bead, macrame, knit, etc, etc, etc. I do find though that I derive the most comfort from sewing. The tactile sensations are much to be desired.

Thank you, that's good to know. The result counts, after all, and you all prove it!

One of my goals for this next year was to try to be more focused, but I can already see that I'm hopping from one theme to another, adding more and more art venues to my life! At least none of us is ever bored, right?!! LOL
Susan Carlson, the quilt artist that I heard speak on Monday, said that when they moved to a new home recently, she even brought her box of teeny tiny scraps, which she is still using in her magnificent quilts. So, as Kay says, if you have room to keep it, do so!

Without the variety of being a butterfly I would curl up and fade away of boredom. I can't think of anything much worse than doing the same thing all the time. Getting focused is ok - as long as it is for a short period of time and sequential!
