New Kids on the Loom

A "ruglet" -- a small rug for my mother in law. She doesn't have internet. So she cannot see her present too early. Not before Christmas.
And she gave me a load of thick carpet wool which I split into half and quarter threads, so I can weave this rug. It is a kelim technique, but very soft wool which is nice to touch. In the middle I stitched a tiny rhombus in order to try out further embellishment, but I rather remove it. The wool is from my husband's beloved grandmother Elisabeth. She died 10 years ago, and my mother in law has no use for the embroidery and rug wool, she rather likes sewing her own bluses and skirts, and she is a real expert. Now I have all this Elizabethan wool, and I'm getting more. Pounds!
My husband said I resemble his granny with her love for nature and the way she emphasised that a house must have a fireplace or oven. The way she was busy with embroidery and other craft. The big difference: She embroidered pictures. I don't like embroidered pictures at all!
