This is where my husband grew up and where I feel quite at home after having a relationship with him for almost 12 years. This small town once was bigger and more important than Hamburg, I think in medieval times. In the 17th century, after the 30-years-war, it was unter Swedish administration. This baroque store building on the first pic is called "Schwedenspeicher", "Swedish warehouse."
I don't know if we'll have time to go downtown. And if the weather allows a walk and taking pictures. At least I'd like to share the beauty of this place with you!

I would like to see it - what a beautiful town
I just love the look of that place! When we are on holiday (usually France) I always come back with zillions of pics of bits of architecture. This would be Paradise for me!.
The plan is to go to Alsace this year - a change of architecture and culture from last year in Provence. Hoping to get to Bern too - to the Paul Klee museum.
....might even slip across the border into Germany too ....
Send me an e-mail with your address, and I'll put one of my "bunting" pieces in the post as a Christmas Pressie for being a faithful follower!.

What gorgeous architecture! I love the facade of the building in the center of the 2nd pic.....almost looks like gingerbread!
Hope you are feeling better.
